Saddleworth Rangers – Home

HUNSLET WARRIORS U18s V SADDLEWORTH RANGERS U18S

CONFERENCE YOUTH LEAGUE

20th March 2011

In this 2nd round of the inaugural summer Conference League it was difficult to predict the outcome. Warriors had lost narrowly to East Leeds last week, while Saddleworth had a resounding win at home to Featherstone Lions.

This game however proved a one-sided affair with Warriors running out convincing winners.

Man of the Match Warriors full back Jake Corney scored a hat trick of tries and bagged 8 goals for a points total of 28. Loose Forward and captain Nathan Sheard scored two, as did  prop Elliot Morgan and second row Blake Banning. There were also tries for Connor Nolan, Jacob Wykeman and Danny Cahill.

Coach Simon Peach was proud of his team’s performance, saying that while still in the early stages of the season it was encouraging to see them starting to gel as a team. He is looking forward to seeing his team develop over the summer season. Next week the team travel to Gateshead Thunder.
GILLETTE CONFERENCE YOUTH LEAGUE

Hunslet Warriors travelled to Gateshead on the back of a resounding win last week against Saddleworth Rangers and proved that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with as they came away victorious with a 34 – 64 win.

Full back Jake Corney once again was awarded Man of the Match as he contributed 32 points with 4 tries and 8 goal kicks. Loose forward and captain Nathan Sheard scored two, as did centre Kyle Boardman. There were also tries for Joe Thrush, Danny Cahill, Jacob Wykeman and Stuart Zubrcycki.

Coach Simon Peach was once again pleased with his team’s attacking prowess but was less pleased with the points conceded and felt that they needed to work on tightening up their defence ahead of their game next week away to league leaders Bradford Dudley Hill.
